the Turth

After Wednesdays class I have been thinking a lot about the truth.  I have come to determine that the only way to know something is true is through experience.  Everything else is up for grabs.  For instance I am pretty sure there is not a tea cup orbiting the Earth, but I have never been off of Earth so I do not know.

Even things that have been proven true by others is questionable because I did not personable see the experiment that was done so how do I know that there wasnt some evidence fudged.

However one thought as really been bothering me.  What if we are all just living in a dream and everything we think and believe is true is really just part of our imagination?

I agree Erica, the "Turth" is about direct experience. There's no other way to learn or gain knowledge about something other than actually living it yourself. Knowledge is gained from learning the truth. The truth is either gained from experience or education. Unfortunately many people learn the hard way, that experience is more efficient that reading or being told about something.

Wait, by experience do you mean using you five senses? Because then what if you are disabled? Then you are limited from the truth because they can't experience it through their senses? I think that there are some truth that one just believes in. There doesn't need to be any proof because intuition or that other level of understanding guides us. The living in a dream is a little bit scary, but the way i look at it is that this "false" world im living in is real to the false me, but it is me none the less.

I really like what you wrote here. We blindly accept things to be true because people with authority over us and who are apparently more intelligent than us say that it is. Without ever experiencing something, how can we know its true?
